Join Bangkok-based designer Anuthin Wongsunkakon for a conversation on developing a digital font industry. Font files can appear quickly, but building a font industry involves shared understanding, professional value, practical goals, and long-term infrastructure. Drawing on Thailand’s experience in developing a digital font industry, this talk examines the essential tools for turning fonts from downloadable files into cultural, technical, and economic assets. Profiling case studies and lessons learned, it maps the three steps in meaningful font development: (i) building value; (ii) creating specificity; and (iii) enabling strategy. Anuthin Wongsunkakon is a Bangkok-based designer and founder of Cadson Demak, a studio specialising in typography and brand identity. His work spans custom typefaces, Thai adaptations of international type families, and typographic solutions for Southeast Asian scripts, as well as contributions to design education and the BITS (Brand Identity & Typography Symposium) conference. This event is presented in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo.
