“There is something I have always felt in the presence of the traditional masks of Sri Lanka’s south. Despite their fierce expressions and enigmatic faces, they are not made to frighten, they are made to protect. Behind every mask lies a purpose: to shield from sickness, to ward off malevolent energy, to stand guard against the unseen.
 This collection expands outward from that idea, through the remedies, the rituals, and the objects that generations have reached for in moments of vulnerability.
 What emerges is a study of what people believe in when they feel most exposed, and how those beliefs become woven into culture and memory.
 We seek protection not because we are weak. We seek it because we are human.”
